India was a very powerful empire back then. Their troops were specifically chosen and they had animals when they went to war (elephants). When Alexander went to fight India, the Iranians reinforced him forming an alliance. Their army was now much bigger and stronger. In 326 B.C.E, he defeated the prince of India. The fight was very gory because elephants were stepping on people and the Indians were experts in the art of the bow and arrow. Alexander's horse, Bucephalus, was wounded and died on the battlefield. Alexander loved his horse so much that he named a city after it. Alexander had now concurred India.
